The Dutch/Finnish Town of Saints started as a busking act in 2010, when Harmen Ridderbos (lead vocal/guitar) and Heta Salkolahti (violin/vocals) met each other in the mountains of Austria. The following five years the duo toured extensively throughout Europe. Meanwhile transforming from an upbeat indie-folk act to a five-headed groove-machine.
Within half a year after the release of their debut album, ‘Something To Fight With’ (2013), Town of Saints was proclaimed as one of the most promising Dutch acts by national radio and television. The success of the album resulted in performing over 130 live shows throughout 11 European countries. 1,5 years later their new album followed.
No Place Like This’ (2016) is a journey that describes the ambiguity between modern life and our primal nature. It adopts a position on the rationality of our modern society and questions whether or not it, in the end, is rational at all. ‘
After releasing ‘No Place Like This’, Town of Saints’ there was a year full of tours and festivals. After a period of reflection, where almost was decided to stop, Harmen and Heta went all the way back to the beginning, achieving as much as possible with as few resources as possible. Subsequently there was inspiration for new music, with the new album ‘Celebration’ (2018) as a result. Harmen, singer of Town of Saints, about the new album: "Celebrate" is not about the end of the world itself, but about human behaviour around the apocalypse. At the same time, it stands for leaving behind a chaotic, unpredictable time.”
